Thanks for the help, guys. It's a bit clearer for me now. I think I will discuss it with my friend and see what she wants to do. I think having her as a contributor is a good idea, because I would like it if she is registered as the author of the post.

Hi Maria

The advantage to having her as a user - beyond just allowing her to type the posts in herself, is that you can then show her as the post author, and she can have an author profile page with a photo and bio. Otherwise, it shows up with you as the author.

You can set her with a user role of contributor, which allows her to write and save a post, but not to publish it. That way you can still look it over, and then publish it or schedule it to post whenever you like.

But all that said, I agree with Rebecca - if she's not going to be a regular blogger, you may not want to go to that trouble.

On TWE, I set every author up with their own username and login password, however many of the authors who contribute just email me their posts in a Word document and I paste it in, but at least this way I can still show them as the author and give them their own profile page.

When I guest post, I either write my post in Word and send it to the administrator or I'll be set up on the website's WordPress or Blogger platform if I'll be a recurring guest blogger. It's really up to you. If your friend will be a recurring guest blogger, I say set her up. If not, tell her to write her posts in Word, send them to you, and you can post them.

Hi,
I have asked a good friend of mine to write a guest post for my blog.

I have noticed in the dashboard that I can add users to my site. Should I add my friend as a user, so that she can put a post on my site in her own name, or should I post it for her. Obviously I would want to read the post she writes before she can post it to my site, but I am a bit hesitant in making her a user.

How do other people who have guest posts on their blogs deal with this?

Maria
