To be totally honest, there have been a lot of travel blogs pop up in the last year, but there aren't many travel blogs which are that big.

If it is something you are passionate about, I say go for it. Compete straight up. It might take time, and you might have to work harder, but it is worth it if it is something you want to do.

Hi Duchess

The first thing I would do is take a look at the others in that niche (those who turn up on the first couple of pages of search engine results aka SERPs) to see how good they really are.

Do this by searching on every keyword and keyword phrase you can think of that pertains to your niche - what you're looking for is those words or phrases for which TWO things occur:

1. There is enough people searching on those words/phrases (found using Google's Keyword Research Tool) to bring a decent amount of traffic to your site assuming you can rank for them;

AND (not or, or and/or, but AND)

2. The competition is weak - either they aren't aware of and optimizing for those words, or they simply aren't doing as well at it as you could be OR their site just plain suck and you can do better.

If it's something you're really passionate about, don't give up, just work harder to be better than everyone else - even in a saturated market SOMEBODY has to be the best - why not you?

Ok, I know we're supposed to drill down our niche, but what if the niche you're passionate about is too saturated. How far do you drill it down?
