What will entice them to click on ads on your site while they are there? Giving them something that <em>is interesting or intriguing</em> to them. If the ads are relevant to why they are at your site in the first place, they will be more likely to click on them.</p> <p>If your site is about traveling with pets, and you're showing them an ad for car insurance, are they likely to click? Probably not. But show them an ad for a new TSA-approved pet carrier, and they are much more likely to.</p> <p>The people that do make a lot of money from ads do so by keeping the ads <em>highly targeted</em> to their audience. The ones that don't succeed at it generally don't because they have plastered their site with so many unrelated ads that site visitors often leave without even looking at the ads. I know some people who've gotten themselves into debt from trying to do PPC marketing to drive people to their site so they will CLICK on their ads. </p> <p>It's important to understand how to drive traffic to your site with and without doing PPC marketing. This is where SEO comes into play. Use relevant keywords, guest blog, do article marketing, comment on forums, etc... Some people make upwards of $10k/per month (not kidding), others struggle to make $100 per month. The GURUs out there will tell you that it's easy to make $5k or $10k per month. It comes down to knowledge. How well do you understand PPC and affiliate marketing? Do you understand SEO concepts like keywords, tags, etc...? I've dabbled with this and stopped by Google Adsense. Lo and behold, I'm still making money off of my websites. Am I make the $5k or $10k per month that I would LOVE to be making, no I am not. So it really depends. </p> <p>Please be aware that it is a business. Many people fail because they give up too soon or the don't work their website enough. It will take time, but if you know what you're doing, you'll get there.</p> <p>I suggest you do a Google search for Howie Schwartz, Frank Kern, Chris Carpenter, and PPC Classroom. Sign up for their information (free to sign up) and they'll send you videos and PDFs. Take a look at the material and do you best to incorporate the practices. I learned a lot from Chris Carpenter and his Google Cash Detective because he got to the point. He teaches you how to create ads for Google, but he also teaches you how to research and what to look for in other peoples ads. Remember, KEYWORDS are important. Howie Schwartz does the same thing.
