Wow - that's good advice Trisha!

I agree - I don't think it's possible to have a truly unique topic to write about, because with so many billions (yes, billions with a "b") of sites out there you can bet that somebody somewhere has already written about it.

SO don't stress over the idea for your blog post, just focus on what you want to say about it. Your perspective may be the only thing unique about it, but that is what makes it authentic, and makes others want to read it, even if they've already read a gazillion other articles on the subject.

Hi Sarah

You have a very valid point, and I admire your desire to be original, but do keep in mind that there are hundreds of millions - possibly billions - of people out there on the internet searching for information, and there's a good chance that they won't ever see any of those "duplicate" articles, they may just find yours. So don't worry about copying someone else's "idea", as long as you feel you can bring your own spin to it or add something to it, that will make it unique.

Sometimes you may be reading a blog post elsewhere with which you disagree - you may feel that it's important to get your opinion on record too.

I remember a few years ago hearing some hollywood director or studio head was quoted saying "there are no new movies being made - everything is a remake of something that's already been made" - or something very close to that effect.

With billions of websites out there, it's very hard to have a truly original idea for every blog post, so don't let that frustrate you. Just stay true to what you want to write about, what you know about, and what you think your readers will enjoy.

Good luck!

Ugh! If I read one more blog post on "How to start a blog?" I think I'll choke on the words. How do you come up with new, exciting blog ideas that haven't been covered? It seems that people write the same post with a somewhat different perspective, but it's still the same post. I want to write about topics that haven't been covered. Perhaps it's time for me to brainstorm...Any suggestions...

I had writer's block today...Trisha gave me a tip...get up and make some tea...It worked...I also started proofing my writing...That seemed to help...I was able to take a sentence and move it somewhere else within my writing...

Just write as much as you can and do not stress out about it. Stuff happens, you get busy, and sometimes things take a back seat. Don't make a habit of it, and you'll be fine!

Earning extra cash for the holiday season is a great motivator! Just think of the gifts you can buy for family and friends or you can donate to an organization. Don't sweat the holidays. Whether you fly or drive home, it will make a great travel article or a couple of articles.

Why do people stress out over the holidays? I'd rather write travel articles then shop. Yep, I am a guy...Later...

OMG! It can be difficult to stay focused on writing. Just take a deep breathe and keep the "bigger picture" in focus. The holidays will pass by in a "flash." It makes more sense to enjoy them instead of worrying how you'll accomplish everything on your list. This is where prioritizing comes in handy.

I like the idea of setting a timer. And -- I'll just buy a cookie tray if I do not have time to bake!
