It does you no good to choose a niche that is SO narrow ( or so obscure ) that no one is searching for it, because then no one will come to your site.</p> <p>So that's why it's critical to do research to find out who would be your target market, and how big that market it. Start by listing the topics you're passionate -- and knowledgeable -- about, then dig into some keyword research on keywords related to those topics to see how many people search on them and how many other websites compete for those people (of course checking out the top dozen or two of those competing websites). No, I haven't purchased their products, but their videos do a great job walking you through a niche market and how to define it and then do PPC marketing (if you're interested). Anyway, let's say you enjoy European Travel. This is a very, very broad topic. Many countries make up Eastern and Western Europe. Some people tell you to put the actual URL of the company's website in the URL space when you create an ad. If this is trademarked, you will not be able to do this. I received an email from one of my affiliates and they asked that I remove the link and not use their company name because it's trademarked. You can find keywords by searching a webpage URL. When you go to Google AdWords Keywords Tool, you have a choice to search "descriptive words and phrases or website content." Use website content and see what keywords are returned. </p> <p>For example, if you have a travel niche you would like to get into, find a website that is already up and running, copy and paste the URL into the "webpage URL" and see what keywords and phrases are found. You'll be surprised how much time this can save you.
