Hello Sanjay,

For a brand-new site with little site traffic, your best bet is to choose ads through an Affiliate Network, such as CommissionJunction, LinkShare, or Google Affiliate Network. You set up an account with any or all of the Networks, then apply to the advertisers programs in order to get access to the ads. Some advertisers will want to manually approve sites, so be sure that yours is completed and has some good content on it, but many advertisers just automatically approve applicants. Be sure to choose ads that are relevant to your site and topics.

After you've built up some good traffic numbers, with a good mix of returning (loyal) and new site visitors, potential advertisers will be more open to placing direct ads on your site, and may even approach you with proposals.

All that said, there is a LOT to know before setting up a travel blog, so be sure to read the case study series I did - it's a couple of years old but still highly relevant and has a lot of advice and tips........start reading here at the beginning and follow each of the subsequent weekly installment to break it down into manageable tasks for yourself.

http://www.travel-writers-exchange.com/2009/08/suzy-week-1-goals-profitable-travel-writing/

Good luck!

Trisha

Hi Trisha

I am new to the site and wonder whether I can put this question to you - in case I can please answer it and in case I do not have the liberty - kindly advice so that I do not repeat this faux pas again.

I am an avid traveler and writer and would like to subsequently start my own travel site - in case I do how do I get these ads and how do I generate revenue from these ads.

Please excuse if the question is basic or infantile from your perspective - however as far as I am concerned this is important

Regards

Thanks, Trisha.
I think this is a great idea for travel writers (even if I say so myself).
Somebody with a real interest in travel and good writing skills would certainly add to the quality of our international travel directory.
And since we provide everything, you can log in from anywhere in the world, review any submissions made, add a bit of advertising or Google Ads etc.
But then like I said, I am biased <img src="http://www.travel-writers-exchange.com/Forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" />

This is a great opportunity for travel writers whose first language is not English.
We are looking for people who take their travel and their travel writing serious.

You can now operate your own non-English copy of a WiZZ.travel directory and instantly be part of a trusted, well-recognised and established travel directory.
WiZZ.travel is looking for editors who are interested in running a quality tourism and travel directory in their language.

Who are we looking for?

People whose first language is not English, but who have a good understanding of English.

People who take their travel and their travel writing serious

You'll need to translate a template of the WiZZ.travel directory.
For an example, visit the Dutch WiZZ.travel directory.

You will operate and maintain your own WiZZ.travel directory, add categories as required, review submissions made to your directory etc.

Work together with other WiZZ.travel editors using a common set of rules and guidelines to create the best travel directory in as many languages as possible.

WiZZ.travel editors will be required to check and amend some submissions. Being a WiZZ.travel editor is more than clicking to approve or reject submissions. We are a quality directory and work to a set of standards.

If this sounds like you, you might wonder what the benefits are for you:

WiZZ.travel editors can request fees for some reviews; paid reviews are charged at the same price by all different language editors. Currently the price is US$ 9.95.

WiZZ.travel editors can place and sell relevant advertising including Google Ads on their directory.

WiZZ provides all the hosting and the software and the domain, you provide the initial translation and maintain your directory.

Your WiZZ.travel directory will be at the relevant subdomain: for example the Dutch WiZZ.travel is at nl.wizz.travel etc.

If you're interested:

Contact us to make sure that we are not already busy creating a directory in your language.

A once only fee of US$ 20 is applicable before we set up your directory.

Ask any questions here, or visit http://www.goldroo.org/showthread.php/27.

I listened to a teleseminar and the woman giving the teleseminar mentioned that selling the $25 eBook is okay but you could be selling "high end products" that people want to purchase. What "high end products" could travel writers offer?
