Up and coming travel website is publishing country guides for volunteering abroad. If you've traveled and volunteered abroad, you may be the country...
Guides will be give someone who wants to go volunteer there an idea of what it would be like. You must have spent time/lived abroad and volunteered. Guides must be authoritative and unbiased. If you are responding on behalf of an organization, your guide can't be promotional or focused on one group. See the link for an example of the Official Go Overseas Guide to Volunteering in Peru. We really hope you can find time to participate; your input will be highly valuable to us! The online survey at http://ow.ly/8QrtS will take less than 10 minutes and a great Canadian blues CD is on offer if you make it to the last question! Thanking you in advance.

Hello Sanjay,

For a brand-new site with little site traffic, your best bet is to choose ads through an Affiliate Network, such as CommissionJunction, LinkShare, or Google Affiliate Network. You set up an account with any or all of the Networks, then apply to the advertisers programs in order to get access to the ads. Some advertisers will want to manually approve sites, so be sure that yours is completed and has some good content on it, but many advertisers just automatically approve applicants. Be sure to choose ads that are relevant to your site and topics.

After you've built up some good traffic numbers, with a good mix of returning (loyal) and new site visitors, potential advertisers will be more open to placing direct ads on your site, and may even approach you with proposals.

All that said, there is a LOT to know before setting up a travel blog, so be sure to read the case study series I did - it's a couple of years old but still highly relevant and has a lot of advice and tips........start reading here at the beginning and follow each of the subsequent weekly installment to break it down into manageable tasks for yourself.

http://www.travel-writers-exchange.com/2009/08/suzy-week-1-goals-profitable-travel-writing/

Good luck!

Hi Trisha

I am new to the site and wonder whether I can put this question to you - in case I can please answer it and in case I do not have the liberty - kindly advice so that I do not repeat this faux pas again.

I am an avid traveler and writer and would like to subsequently start my own travel site - in case I do how do I get these ads and how do I generate revenue from these ads.

Please excuse if the question is basic or infantile from your perspective - however as far as I am concerned this is important

Regards

Hi

I second what Erik said - I would not recommend working/seeking info. from a site which seeks money for the same - the way a professional and efficient website shoudl operate and does operate is that they disseminate knowledge and assignments at no cost and the revenue streams comes from the services or ads which are an add on

So steer clear!

Hello Anna! I'm working to fill my blog pages with the healing practices found in Palm Springs California as well as the nurturing and reparative experiences of the Cahuilla Indian Nations; information previously learned (and possibly forgotten again), as it pertains to healing the mind, body, and spirit; Palm Springs style. Please let me know if this would be of interest. I have several blog entries in the can as I try to be consistent and post at least one every week. Greg

gap-year guidebook on "Travel articles and Photography entries needed!"

The gap-year guidebook is published annually, and the 2012 edition has had an extremely warm response. I am eager though, for the guide to contain more first-hand accounts, as, having been away on a gap-year myself, I know there is nothing more helpful. Whether you've spent 4 weeks, 4 months or 4 years, travelling with a structured programme - at least in part - we'd love to hear from you.

Any entries would be added to our website, http://www.gap-year.com, and then considered too, for the next edition. The tone, the length, the theme of the piece, is completely down to you, I'd like for the accounts to be as organic as they can possibly be. Please visit the site, and the 'been there, done that' section, to read through the testimonials that have already been added.

Also, for any budding photographers out there - we run an annual competition to find the most spectacular gap-year photo. Last year's winner even made the cover! For more information, including the terms and conditions, please visit our website, or email editor@gap-year.com for further details.

Spread the word - looking forward to hearing from you.

Author: James P

Hi guys, I have recently registered my new domain name and transferred my old blog (about 5 months old) to this new address.

I'm currently looking to improve the site, with the intention to generate a good readership for the column-style pieces I have published so far.

I also have plans to start a new link on the site publishing video recipes (hence the title the hairy chef) although this is more of a personal interest type project, which I hope will both diversify the content and add a slightly quirky appeal to the site.

I'd really appreciate thoughts and comments.

Cheers

I need a number of articles written around specific cities.

Each article will follow the same formula/format ie:

-48 hours in London
-48 hours in Paris
-etc

I want the articles to follow a time line of what someone might do in that city in those 48 hours

Here are a few examples:

http://www.traveldir.org/articles/europe/uk/london/how_to_do_london_in_48_hours.html
__________

http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/07/22/uk-48-hours-in-london-for-bargain-hunter-idUSLNE76L01Q20110722
__________

http://www.independent.ie/travel/48-hours-in/48-hours-in-london-2016561.html
__________

Each article/info piece should be approximately 5000-6000 words, though quality is far more important than quantity (accuracy and precision is also important.)

I will retain copyright on all content and the content will also be thoroughly checked for plagiarism (uniqueness is paramount)

If you interested in this job, please email [john house 78 @ gmail .com] with your rates and availability. Also, please include an original article of your own for review.

Thanks.

i m telling about some travel writer clubs:

The Itinerant Writers Club:-

The two main reasons for setting up this website were to meet other like-minded people and improve my writing skills. If you live in a house, flat, bungalow or palace – or anywhere in one place – the chances are somewhere not too far from you there will be a ‘creative writing group’ where you’ll be able to attend regular meetings and submit writing exercises for feedback. But what if you live on a boat, in a camper van or out of a backpack – or anywhere that never stays still? Where can you hone your skills in the company of other would-be writers if you’re a rolling stone?

The California Writers Club, Sacramento Branch’s monthly Writers Network’s breakfast meeting for September will feature Carmel L. Mooney.
Writing About Travel

Carmel L. Mooney is a travel writer, columnist, author and radio talk show host. Her titles include: “Money the Write Way” and “How to Break In or Survive and Thrive as a Travel Writer in the Current Economy.” Her bylines and photographs appear in national and international magazines and newspapers. She teaches seminars on writing and publishing at writers’ conferences and colleges throughout the country.

I just recently became a part of this new SnappyGo trip planning site and so far have had success working as a Travel Advisor. Basically, when someone is planning a trip to Sydney and doesn´t have the time or desire to search through piles of online reviews, or maybe they just want more trustworthy, specific tailor-made advice, they go to SnappyGo. You probably already know how it works, with the ´8 dimensions of travel compatibility´ technology. So if that person has the same broad interests as me, such as adventure, nightlife and eco-friendly, I can bid on the job and so far it seems that chances are I´ll get it.

The average bid is $80, so obviously I´m pretty committed to give the best advice I can. We promptly find ourselves in the Messaging System, like a private instant chat email type thing. The person starts asking questions, I start answering them, throwing in a few suggestions of my own, and voilà! There are a whole bunch of reasons why I love the job, so maybe I´ll just beat ´em out in bullet points.

•	I can be lying in a hammock on a beach in Thailand, in a refuge high in the snowy mountains of Patagonia, in a restaurant in Rome or in any place of the world that has a Wi-Fi connection, and work.
•	It´s actually quite enjoyable. I´ve had a lot of random jobs in my short life and giving advice about my beloved hometown is certainly the most pleasant. I also enjoy asking friends about exciting new places to explore in Sydney. For sure when I return home I´m never going to be out of ideas for things to do!
•	It gets easier and easier the more you do it. A lot of people ask similar questions, so I keep record of all my message board advice and see it fit to use the old copy paste every now and then.
•	There is very little commitment. As long as I´m not half way through a job, as there is nothing pressuring me to bid if I don´t want to work for the time being, I won´t.
• It´s pretty good money. I mean, a few $80 jobs a week and I´m more than comfortable.
•	It´s not overly time-consuming and I can easily schedule it around other commitments, including a full-time job if ever find the desire to get one.
•	It´s a good feeling sharing my knowledge to help people plan their dream holiday. So far everyone has been over the moon with the advice I´ve given them. It puts a smile on my face to know that not only am I being appreciated but travelers are falling in love with beautiful Sydney.

Well, I invite you all to register free and try it out. I can´t promise that you´ll have as much success as I´ve had but it´s still only a new marketplace so it wouldn´t surprise me. snappygo.com really does seem like the way forward in online trip-planning. If I we´re you, I´d start making the most of it before the rest of the world does.

Hi, i can not help you alot here, but i will tell you my teory. they have to make money to so they take a small fee for people joining theyre club. but what i really think is, never pay for information u may not need of a web page. usually its a scam, like "do you wanna know this card trick?, ok just give us 1 US Dollar and we will show you". SCAM.

If there is video or info on the internet that is inportant for something easy, and not something exlusive and expensive that tells you what you get. almost 90 percent of the time, you can get it free from someone else.

so i would say, look further and if not, try calling your bank and hear if theyre credentials/credits are dodgy or if they actually know its a scam.

i am also sorry for bad english. im working on that. i can speak right, but not quite write right. i think. ;O) hope u got some thoughts. and if you have figured this out. share it.

I don't mind paying a fee if I am going to get some great and helpful info.

I've just launched a new website, http://www.lizcleere.com, specifically aimed at itinerant writers like me. If you're a rolling stone or are in a perpetual state of travel you might be interested in becoming part of this small group.

I've set it up so that a small band of people -- maximum 12 -- can get together to swap travel stories once a month and GIVE EACH OTHER CONSIDERED LITERARY CRITICISM. Like the creative writing groups you find in most towns, this on-line version will nurture and encourage its writers to improve.

There will be monthly assignments. All members will be required to write up to 500 words on a given theme, and to critique the previous month's work of the other eleven members. We will also have voluntary ad hoc assignments, and possibly guest posts and Q&A sessions.

The club is free to join. I've had to limit the size to twelve members as that is about the maximum number I can handle at the moment. We'll see how it progresses.

I've set a little competition for applicants to write 500 words on 'The Itinerant Writer' and to let me have a few words about themselves.

Mini biog: I live on a boat and am slowly sailing round the world. I write cruising stories (destination pieces)for Sailing Today, a national sailing magazine in the UK. I've had some success in writing competitions. I would like to break into mainstream travel writing and am hoping this club will be one small step for all its members to improve their writing skills.

They're doing this blogging competition and the prize is £100 worth of Amazon vouchers. I thought it was great because it is quite simple rules and simple competition, so I'll be entering and would like to know who else is in?
