I’m not aware of any writers retreats that actually teach writing…..they pretty much assume that you’re already a writer looking to connect with other writers and editors, sometimes literary agents, and mostly just provide support, inspiration, and often a critique of your work.

If you’d really like to become a writer, check out some local community colleges for a creative writing class to learn the basics, and when you’ve completed that join a local writers group (or two) which you can often find through bookstores, colleges, and local writer’s organizations.

Can a retreat help me to become a writer? I really love to be, but unfortunately, I don’t have the talent to write.

Gwen I’m so excited for you! I’ve been to a couple of writer’s retreats and I always come away so reinvigorated to keep writing, and have always made a few new friends. We have a guest post coming up tomorrow about how to prepare for a writer’s retreat – I hope you like it!

I’m so excited about our upcoming retreat in Santa Rosa Beach! It’s so hard to find time to write–with family, jobs, house, husband!–and to have 5 full days, with other writers, is going to be heavenly! Oh, being at the beach is an added bonus!

This is too good. Writing retreat holidays gives space for writers to be inspired by the unique setting and gett chance to see, hear and breathe richness of writers work.

I would love to take part in a writers retreat. Dave my husband would love it as well. While I do most of the writing on our blog, he is a fabulous writer and I think he would benefit greatly from a retreat. When we come home for a month or two this summer, I may look into it. Or keep an eye out for one in our travels.
I am looking forward to perusing World Retreats to see what holidays Mark has to offer. What a fabulous idea.
