I’m glad you liked the post. Showcasing your bio, websites, clips, and columns is a marketing tool. Most writers do not like to market themselves; they find it embarrassing for some reason. As you mentioned, “…you need to market yourself.” No one will promote you unless you take the first step and do it yourself. This includes asking for referrals.

This is an excellent post and advice. That is why IFWTWA.Org, The International Food Wine & Travel Writers Association did Member profile pages. It gives all of our members a chance to showcase their bios, websites, columns, and clips.

The feedback from the PR and CVBs is fantastic. They want to see what our members are doing and are pleased to find it easily with the latest clips. Our members keep it updated themselves. So, they get an award, it can go up right away. I just got an article in a new good outlet this evening, I’m going to go in and update my profile.

This is very important for you as a writer. If you are not going to invest in yourself with a profile page, then join an organization that can help you promote yourself.

Our members just need to give their member profile url when applying for press trips and it has everything and more except the letter of assignment if needed.

You need to market yourself. Spend time and update your profile frequently.
