Review of WhiteSmoke writing tools software – Part II

Updated: Mar 24th, 2009

If you recall from part one of our WhiteSmoke review, we focused on the good and surprises of WhiteSmoke’s software. In part two of this review, we’ll look at the bad and silver lining of WhiteSmoke’s software. Yes, there’s a bad side and a silver lining. It sounds contradictory, but it’s true.

Remember that writing tools such as WhiteSmoke writing software can enhance and help your writing. If you’re not a strong writer, purchasing WhiteSmoke’s writing and grammar software may pay off in more ways than one.

The bad

About the only bad part is the pricing. The software is not terribly expensive. However, you may be watching your expenses these days and hesitate to purchase the software.

WhiteSmoke offers different writing software packages. The package you choose depends on your writing needs. Here are your options.

Options and Pricing

  1. General writing = $79.95
  2. Business writing = $99.95
  3. Creative writing = $99.95
  4. Bio-tech writing = $99.95
  5. Hi-tech writing = $99.95
  6. Executive package = $249.95

WhiteSmoke also offer add-on modules such as Multi-lingual dictionary for $49.95. Self-study courses are English Online Video Tutorials for $99.95 and Business English Video Tutorials for $99.95.

The silver lining

I would consider purchasing WhiteSmoke based on a couple of criteria. First, anyone can sign up for the free newsletter. Second, they have a free blog which has great information. Third, WhiteSmoke has a forum where you can ask writing questions or copy and paste your article to receive feedback. Finally, you can test the software before you buy it. Not many companies do this.

WhiteSmoke’s software is more economical than other software. The other alternative is to purchase a couple of writing books; however, you may not receive the results you expect. Think of WhiteSmoke’s software as your writing teacher. The software will provide guidance and instruct you on grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. Your writing and writing style will improve over time. Go for it!

Will you invest in WhiteSmoke’s writing software? Why? Why not?

  1. Hey! Maybe this software will help me with my other writing. I can use all the help because I have a lot of papers to write for school :)

  2. I’ve been trying this using their free trial period since your first post on it….it’s really pretty impressive! I thought I was pretty good with grammar, but I’ve actually learned a thing or two. :)

  3. I understand your hesitation to pay for software when there are a lot of free tools available online, and it certainly isn’t cheap, but when you look at it as an investment in yourself and your career as a writer, it becomes extremely affordable.

There is a LOT of competition out there for writing jobs – the web has really opened up the market of freelance writing – so you REALLY have to be outstanding if you want to get awarded jobs and especially to get repeat business. In my humble opinion it’s a small price to pay for a tool that really helps make your writing the best it can be.

  4. It’s great that the company offers a free trial. You never know if you like something unless you try it.

Anything you can do to invest in your writing is a good idea. Just think of all the money you spend on writing books. It adds up after some time. You may as well purchase software that can help you. This way help is at your “finger tips.”

  5. Wasn’t aware that there was a writing tool for writers. Guess my writing could use a little help. WhiteSmoke seems like it would be easy to use. I know what I’ll be doing this weekend, checking out the website. Have a good one! Keep it real!

  6. I am not a JazzyTraveler, but I still use the software at home and at work.
It has got me out of some trouble when sending emails and letters. So happy I was told about this incredible software where my work is corrected as I type. I use the Templates that are built-in and also the Tutorials that are valuable lessons for anyone at all times. The support is good and give answers on the spot…. I think they work 24/7. If not, they call back very soon after receiving the message.
